Millions
This
past week at the Library, there was a showing of the movie Millions which
details the fictional story of two young boys who come across a large sum of
money. The two main characters of this movie are brothers who have conflicting
views when it comes to what they should do with the money. Throughout the film,
they come across many different characters who attempt to persuade them on what
they should do with the money. Focusing on the beginning of the movie, Damien and
his brother Anthony are raised only by their father and after they move into a
new house, Damien finds a large bag of money. Damien has a strong interest in
religion and throughout the film, he is greeted by many past saints and
important religious figures. These famous figures influence young Damien to
donate all of the money to charity and to people who are poor. Damien spends a
vast majority of his money on donations which he gives to people all over the
town. His brother Anthony spends his money the complete opposite way hiring a
team of fellow ten year olds to be his security guards at school.
The two brothers keep their large
sum of cash a secret throughout the first half of the movie and young Damien is
tempted many times to tell everyone including his father about the large sum of
cash he has discovered.
The
secret that the young boys have connects directly to the large secret that Viola
keeps from Duke and Olivia. Viola similar to Damien is tempted many times to
reveal to Duke that she is in fact in love with him while also revealing to
Olivia that her identity is false. The secrecy that both these characters have
is impressive as I believe that I would personally reveal the secret in both
these situations. In the end of the movie, the secret is revealed and I predict
that in the Twelfth Night, the secret will also be revealed.
